Emma Akins is an artist based in Chicago. She is originally from Dubuque, Iowa. Akins recently earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she studied comics, illustration, animation, publishing, and painting. She worked at Graham Crackers Comics for three years. Now her work can be found in the local section of the store. Akins was Jessica Campbell’s studio assistant for her show at the MCA. Akins participated in the Comics and Art Book Fest: Jessica Campbell with Zine Not Dead. Her comics were showcased in Institute of Contemporary Art Baltimore’s, Up like the a Sun Down like a Pancake gallery show.
